Homemade Caramel Sauce

Spoon licking good! This Caramel Sauce recipe is so simple and easy, you will never buy the ready-made or off the shelf kind ever again. I know I don’t..not anymore!

You will only need 4 basic ingredients, that you may already have in your kitchen, and you are all set! Good thing is you know how much sugar is used. This recipe does not really use much, so it is not too sweet and the salt makes a good balance.

caramel-sauce1 Double the this recipe and you can stock it in your fridge for days or even weeks. That way you always have caramel sauce on hand to make simple desserts like ice creams, crepes, pies more yummy  or for making brownies and bars.



Caramel Sauce

Serves: 1 cup
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup all purpose or heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  1. In a small saucepan, heat sugar in medium high until caramelized brown.
  2. Add butter and whisk .
  3. Slowly pour cream. It will bubble a bit once cream is poured. Remove from heat but keep on stirring.
  4. Add salt. and stir some more.
To make Choco-Caramel Sauce:
After removing from heat, add 50g chocolate and continuously stir until chocolate is melted and is fully incorporated.
